After 12 of the Top 24 contestants remaining on “American Idol” completed solo performances on Sunday night (April 8), the same 12 returned Monday night (April 9) to try their hand at celebrity all-star duets.

Sixteen-year-old Layla Spring saw her dreams come true when she got to perform with Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush. The trio took the stage singing Sugarland’s 2010 hit, “Stuck Like Glue.” If you weren’t tapping your toe and singing along during this performance, you might want to check for a pulse.

You could feel both Jennifer and Layla’s twangy personalities shining through, especially when singing lines like, “Whoa-oh, whoa-oh Stuck like glue. You and me baby, we’re stuck like glue.”

“THESE TWO are super awesome! I love them so much!! I don’t think y’all are ready to see us rock out!!! @sugarland,” Layla wrote on Instagram.

Following the high-energy performance, judges Luke Bryan, Katie Perry and Lionel Richie had nothing but praise for the Kentucky native.

“You don’t even begin to understand how hard it is to go toe-to-toe with Jennifer Nettles,” Luke said. “You just fit in with them. And I’m sitting there thinking we’re watching a child here that we’re going to be seeing entertain people for a long, long, long time.”

“Layla Spring, you are just springing full of joy,” Katy added. “I think that’s kinda the making of a star, is someone that has both talent and also a personality. You’ve got it so well.”

Unfortunately, those kind words weren’t enough to keep Layla around.  The fun-loving redhead was one of 5 contestants eliminated from the competition later in the evening.
