Leah Turner has some new music that she wants you to hear. The “Take the Keys” threw a party Thursday night (Feb. 15) at The Basement in Nashville to share the latest songs from her new self-titled EP
The California native invited family, friends and industry bigwigs to get a taste of what she’s been working on since last releasing her 2014 self-titled EP. Some recognizable faces filled the room as the show kicked off, including country singers Mickey Guyton and Cassadee Pope, who could be seen side stage dancing and singing along to the Leah’s songs.
“I’m so nervous to do this tonight and I’m so grateful,” Leah said from the stage. “This what I love about Nashville. They don’t give up on you and they are such a community, that they bind together and support. The faces that I see were there when I was on Sony and they are here now and I’m so grateful for you all.”
Leah was signed to Columbia Nashville, a part of Sony Records, in 2013 and released her debut single, “Take the Keys,” which hit No. 37 on the Billboard country chart. After parting ways with her record label, the 32-year-old singer has been nursing a broken heart, which allowed her to write powerful songs for her latest EP.
Leah’s raspy vocals were on full display as she belted out old favorites such as, “Take The Keys” and “Bless My Heart,” as well as new tunes from her current self-titled EP, “Break Up” and the latest single, “Sleep You Off.”
A highlight of the night was at the end of her set when Leah took the crowd to church with an off-the-charts passionate rendition of “Tennessee Whiskey,” that just blew the roof off of the place. She finished with an equally rocking version of “My Finger,” revealing to the crowd that Leah Turner is a force to be reckoned with.
