Monster congratulations go out to Luke Combs. The rising country star is celebrating his sixth number-one single with “Beer Never Broke My Heart.” While hitting the top of the Billboard and Mediabase charts is nothing new for Luke, it’s noteworthy that all six of the official singles that Luke and his team have sent to radio have become chart-toppers. And, for a little extra icing on the cake, “Beer” made it to the top in about a dozen weeks, depending on what chart you look at.
It also bears mentioning that Luke’s debut album, This One’s For You, which produced five of those smashes, just broke Randy Travis’ record for most weeks at number-one with 44. According to Billboard, Randy’s Always and Forever topped the charts at 43. The only title that beats both of those gentlemen? Shania Twain’s Come On Over.
Not bad for a guy who was once told by Nashville influencers that his songs weren’t that great…the same songs you’re hearing on the radio today, mind you. Luke, who has a reputation for being one of the nicest and most humble guys in country music, doesn’t hold a grudge, though. Why would he? The North Carolina native just released his fourth EP, The Prequel, which houses his current smash, his Beer Never Broke My Heart headlining tour sold out 23 of its 28 dates, every single he releases has been certified at least one-time Platinum and This One’s for You is twice Platinum.
On top of all of that, Luke is the reigning CMA New Artist of the Year, the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry, and in the unspecified future, will tie the knot with his beautiful fiancée, Nicole Hocking.
If you think all of this has gone to his head, think again. He’s not into his own hype. He’s into working hard, making good music that he’d want to listen to, and he’s into his fans. He’s way into his fans.
