We could say that Brendan McLoughlin is, “arguably,” Miranda Lambert’s greatest love. Or we could say that title of greatest love belongs to dogs. All dogs. Or maybe we could just step out of the way and let her newest music video for “How Dare You Love” do the talking.
A plethora of playful puppers, both purebred and mutts, take the starring role in “How Dare You Love.”
As the song progresses from verse to chorus, images of fans, friends, family’s and even her own best four-legged friends flash in tiles, while the lyrics scroll within the frame. Some of the plucky pups show off tricks and stunts, others are just lovably goofy. The pedigrees of some are obvious, while some are a melange of mixes. Some are dressed in bandanas, tutus and sunglasses and some are unapologetically dogs in their natural fur. However, all are ridiculously adorable and obviously well-loved.
The final frame of the video recognizes Miranda’s MuttNation Foundation, which the singer established to help provide awareness of responsible pet ownership and aid to animal shelters across the country. In fact, Miranda also recently announced the release of a pet food line, MuttNation On the Farm (available at Tractor Supply), that would also benefit her foundation.
Written with Jamie Kinney and fellow Pistol Annie, Ashley Monroe, “How Dare You Love” is a love song in its truest sense. Unexpected and overwhelming, Miranda sings about the imperfection and effortless ease of true love. And, in a sense, that makes the music video even more relatable.
