Rascal Flatts kicked off their performance at Daytona 500 pre-race show with their 2006 hit “Life is a Highway.” The perfect song to rev up a crowd of approximately 200,000 Nascar fans at the 60th annual Daytona 500 on Sunday (Feb. 18).
“It’s probably a highlight of our career. It’s one of the biggest events in the country and we’re thrilled to be here,” Jay DeMarcus shared during a pre-race press conference.
The guys kept with the car theme by performing their hit “Fast Cars and Freedom,” and followed it up with their 2017 No.1 hit, “Yours if You Want It,” featured on their current album, Back to Us.
“We’re excited,” added Joe Don. “They call this the Super Bowl of racing and for us as artists, I think it’s one of the coolest things we get to do—is play gigs like this. The heart and soul of America is going to be here. Who doesn’t love Nascar and fast cars and freedom, that’s what Rascal Flatts is all about.”
Gary, Joe Don and Jay took to Instagram to share video from the day and announce their appearance saying, “You know we love “Fast Cars and Freedom!” Doesn’t get more true than this Sunday at the Daytona 500! Y’all tune in for some pre-race music. #DaytonaDay.”
Their performance was bound to get any Nascar fan revved up and ready to start their engines.
