As details unfold from the mass shooting that occurred during Route 91 Harvest Music Festival, the shooter’s family is speaking out.

The gunman, identified as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, who killed more than 50 and wounded over 400 in a horrific massacre from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas, reportedly shot and killed himself before police entered his room.

His brother, Eric Paddock—who lives in Orlando, Fla.—appeared on CBS News to talk about the devastating incident and give insight into his brother.

“We’re shocked, horrified, completely dumbfounded about this. We have nothing to say,” the Paddock said, speaking to reporters.

“The fact that he had those kinds of weapons is just —where the hell did he get those kind of weapons? He has no military background. He’s just a guy who lived in a house in Mesquite and drove down and gambled in Las Vegas. He did stuff, he ate Burritos.”

“He’s my brother, he was a guy. He gambled. He was nice to my kids when they went out to Vegas. My kids didn’t know him that well, he lives on the other coast. He sends his mom cookies,” he continued. “There’s nothing else to say. I’d love to be able to give some reason to this. No religious affiliation, no political affiliation, he just hung out.”

When speaking with CNN Paddock said, “He was my brother, and it’s like an asteroid fell out of the sky.”
