It’s hard to imagine that Scotty McCreery could get any better, but when the “American Idol” winner took on a country classic, it proved that the possibilities are infinite for this talented young man.

During his January 19 show at The Ritz in Raleigh, N.C., Scotty bravely took on the Garth Brooks super-hit “If Tomorrow Never Comes.” YouTube video shows that the song is right in the North Carolina native’s wheelhouse—a luxurious midtempo ballad that showcases the warmth and earthiness of his baritone voice. And if we didn’t already know that Garth originally recorded the tune, Scotty owns the song, mesmerizing the crowd and encouraging a singalong.

Scotty is currently enjoying life as newlyweds with bride Gabi Dugal. The couple recently added a furbaby, Moose, to their family and the pupper has already made his stage debut. Or course, like many celebrity canines, Moose also already has his own Instagram page.

Scotty’s “Seasons Change Tour” with Jimmie Allen and Heather Morgan wraps this month, but don’t panic if you missed it. Scotty currently has shows on his calendar through July, including stops at Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth, Texas, Stage Coach Music Festival in Indio, California, and Country USA in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Meanwhile, his current single, “This Is It,” is in the Top 5 on the Billboard Country Airplay charts, and the companion video features footage from Scotty’s June 2018 wedding to Gabi.
