When Scotty McCreery announced his upcoming third studio album Seasons Change, he said “It’s kind of my journal of the last few years: the ups and the downs. If you want to know who I am and where I’m at right now, listen to this album.”

Scotty is giving us a further look at who he is with the release of his fourth track, “Home In My Mind.” The nostalgic song, written by Scotty, James McNair, Tommy Cecil, has the North Carolina native singing about missing a certain someone back home. As Scotty is so often on the road, he has to conjure up images of home to bring him back to where he really wants to be.

I’m going home in my mind / Cruising by them Carolina pines / Taking it slow, doing 35 down Timber drive / I can already feel your hand in mine / Sweet tea, porch swings, supper on the stove / Everything I’ve been missing on the road / I can’t be there tonight / But when I close my eyes / I’m going home in my mind,” croons Scotty in the chorus.

“In the last five years, I have grown from a teenager to a man, moved out on my own, lost my grandfather, proposed to the love of my life, and learned more about myself than I could have imagined,” Scotty said when announcing the album. “This all shows up in the 11 songs on Seasons Change, and I cannot wait to share this music with my fans after such a long time between releases.”

Scotty’s new album, his first in five years, will be available on March 16.
