It seems like Scotty McCreery is on the top of his game, but his newest single? Well, it’s “In Between.”
No, really. That’s the name of his new single.
The third release from his Seasons Change album, following “Five More Minutes” and “This Is It,” could become his third No. 1, if history is any indication.
“In Between” was co-written by Scotty, along with hit songwriters Frank Rogers, Jessi Alexander, and Jonathan Singleton during the same week that “Five More Minutes” came to life. That also means it was written before he was married to wife Gabi Dugal.

“I find it a bit funny because I wrote the lyric ‘I aint’ ready for a ring on my hand’ back then, and now when it’s my current single, I am a newly married man,” Scotty says. “But ‘In Between’ tells the story of where I was in my life at that moment, and I think that’s what makes it so personal to me.”
It does sound a bit autobiographical. The lyrics describe the all-American country boy that is Scotty, and sonically the tune strikes a lively balance between traditional and contemporary country music—a talent that Scotty is mastering quite well.
Scotty also said, “For me, the theme of ‘In Between’ is all about balance. Everyone’s not all one thing or all the other. We all have many facets to our lives. It’s about knowing who you are and finding the balance that’s right for you.”
The North Carolina native has been performing “In Between” for some time in his shows, but if you haven’t heard it live yet, be sure to check the singer on tour at fairs and festivals and in theaters this spring and summer.
