When you think of the US Open, if you ever do, you probably don’t think of country music. You probably don’t think of Canadian super stars. But if you did not love Shania Twain’s opening medley for the US Open the night of her 52nd birthday, well, you might be out of your mind.
After a brief stat card of Shania’s accomplishments, the singer appeared on the court at Arthur Ashe Stadium and strutted a racket-shaped catwalk as she belted out a series of her greatest hits and new singles.
Twain ran through abbreviated versions of “That Don’t Impress Me Much”, “Life’s About to Get Good”, “Swingin’ With My Eyes Closed” opened by a “Any Man Of Mine” intro, “Still the One,” and “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” She was obviously having fun in a venue known for quiet observance of a refined sport.
Twain’s new album Now releases September 29 and her global Now Tour launches May 3, 2018.
