Thomas Rhett Changed After Having Kids— “They Change Your Life in All Ways and All For the Better”

Just like his song says, “Life Changes” and Thomas Rhett wouldn’t have it any other way. TR has finished two successful headlining tours, earned a couple of high profile industry awards, has been named People Magazine’s sexiest country star, and released a string of chart topping singles that goes back to 2016.

But from a personal perspective, fatherhood has impacted him the most. In the span of just a year and a half, he and wife Lauren have become parents to two girls—three-year-old Willa Gray and one-year-old Ada James—and the adjustment has been significant.

“I think getting used to that kids are the new normal because they change your life in all ways and all for the better,” says Thomas.  “The person I am today is not the person I was a year ago. I’ve learned a severe amount of patience.  A lot of little things don’t bother me anymore because so many little things happen now. And so it’s been a pretty wild year.”

TR goes on to say that after Willa and Ada arrived he thought his family was complete. Thomas says, “I was like, ‘Alright babe, we’re done.  Two, I can’t do any more than two.’ And now that I’ve had two I’m like, ‘What’s three gonna hurt?’ You know, we’ll see.”

But things have changed. In a previous story on One Country, Thomas said that Lauren wanted five kids before she turned 34. “So you can probably expect three new babies in the next five years. She’s the boss,” he said.

The couple don’t appear to be making a pregnancy announcement any time soon and for now, Thomas admits he’s just enjoying watching his baby girls grow up.

He says, “I don’t want to wish them to grow older but I really am so excited for them to start getting involved in sports or music or whatever they want to do so I can really dive in it with them and help them achieve what they want to do.”

TR is off the road for the remainder of the year to enjoy the holidays with his family. He’s back at it in early 2019 for Luke Bryan’s “Crash My Playa” event, then a short run in Australia before he comes back to the states to gear up for his 2019 “Very Hot Summer Tour” with Dustin Lynch, Russell Dickerson, and Thomas’ country star pops, Rhett Akins.
