Tim McGraw shows all walks of life in his latest video for new single “Neon Church.” The nearly four-minute clip highlights a small town of inhabitants who go about most of their days in isolation before coming together at the local bar at night. Directed by Shane Drake, the song’s juxtaposition of darkness and light comes alive throughout the video’s storyline.

“Shane and I talked a lot about the depth and meaning of ‘Neon Church,’” Tim says in a statement. “The song has a lot of grit, and there’s a darkness to it. So we wanted the video to carry some of that darkness and moodiness. But you also have the neon… the light. Neon light is literally the calling card to a bar – you also have the human light that calls people to be together. We’re all a little broken, but that doesn’t mean we don’t each carry some light.”

His director agrees, adding that by the video’s end the viewer is left with a little uncertainty as each character is seen with angel wings.

“As the final shot draws to a close, we are left with the distinct feeling that perhaps this isn’t the end, but rather the beginning of something much bigger,” he says.

Tim is featured in a church pew surrounded by neon lights as he sings the song’s powerful lyrics. All the while, his yearning vocals leave a lasting mark on the listener. Watch the video unfold below.

Tim released “Neon Church” and “Thought About You” last month to country fans. The two tracks marked the singer’s first new solo music since 2015.
