Tim McGraw gives new meaning to the words “Neon Church” in the colorful lyric video for the song. The nearly four-minute clip has Tim enlisting the help of “Light Painter” Patrick Rochon. The painter and several others can be found illustrating the song’s lyrics in the music video, bringing added impact to the song’s already poignant message.
According to a press release, the video for “Neon Church” was created in darkness. Light painting is a photographic technique of moving a light source while taking a long exposure photograph and several people helped in providing the the video’s artwork.
“We wanted to give the fans something really special with this lyric video and we were blown away with Patrick’s work,” Tim says in a statement. “He’s an artist who uses light as paint and darkness as a canvas. That couldn’t be more perfect for ‘Neon Church.’”
Tim’s music video is the first international music video Patrick has worked on.
“Light and sound are a fundamental marriage in the world of creation. When the perfect match comes together; real art takes form,” the artist explains. “For ‘Neon Church,’ I wanted to highlight the emotion of Tim’s song.”
The lyrics come to life vibrantly thanks to Patrick. Watch the video for “Neon Church” below.
“Neon Church” is the first solo song Tim released since 2016’s “How I’ll Always Be”. It will be featured on his upcoming 15th studio album. In addition to the single, he also revealed a new ballad called “Thought About You.”
“I love that there are no rules anymore and I can give fans more music at once. I really felt that both these songs were ready to be heard and will absolutely give a sense of where I’m going with my next project. They’re meaningful to me and show the diversity of what I’ve been working on musically,” Tim previously said upon the release of both tracks.
