The message behind Tim McGraw’s “Humble & Kind,” written by Lori McKenna, is a universal message of compassion and kindness, so why not try to spread that message to as many folks as you can. That’s exactly what Tim McGraw did when he recorded his No. 1 hit in Spanish. (We didn’t even know Tim was bilingual.)
The “The Rest of Our Life” singer took to Instagram to share the Spanish version of the video and managed to thank Oprah Winfrey in the process.
“‘Humble and Kind (Nunca Te Olvides de Amar)’ is a timeless message for our world today,” Tim wrote. “Recording this song in Spanish has been my hope of making it truly universal. It’s one thing to say “universal” and it’s another to put in the effort to bridge the language barrier and try to have a dialogue together through music. I know my Spanish may not be perfect, but I hope that you can feel the sentiment and intention behind the song. Thanks again to @oprah for lending us scenes of Belief from all over the world.”
Nunca Te Olvides de Amar translates to “Never Forget to Love.”
Oprah’s “Belief” is a seven-part documentary series, hosted by Oprah, that the website says “searches the origins of diverse faiths and the heart of what really matters. From the epic to the intimate, webbed throughout each hour are stories of people on spiritual journeys, taking them to sacred spaces.”
There’s always an Oprah connection. The scenes of people around the world in Tim’s video come from Oprah’s “Belief,” which aired on OWN in October 2105.
Mantente humilde y amable (Stay humble and kind.)
