Most artists will tell you that any night they get to play at the Grand Ole Opry is a special one, but it was extra special for Trisha Yearwood when she and the rest of the Opry family celebrated her 20th year of membership on March 12.
Trisha was welcomed to the stage by the legendary Emmylou Harris, who said, “From the moment we first heard that stunning voice and saw that beautiful smile, we fell in love with Trisha Yearwood.” She added, “She would, of course, become and remain one of the shining stars on the Opry stage or any stage.”

It was also pretty spectacular for the audience, who were treated to performances of some of Trisha’s favorite songs, including the classic “Wrong Side of Memphis,” her goosebump- inducing cover of Patsy Cline’s “Sweet Dreams,” and the first tune she ever performed on the Opry, “She’s In Love With the Boy.” But Trisha also called on some friends to sing a couple with her. Ricky Skaggs stepped onto the stage for a duet of “Two Highways.”
Then it was husband Garth Brooks’ turn to celebrate his beloved bride with a powerful duet on “Whiskey To Wine.”

The night also featured a video of friends of Trisha like Reba McEntire, Kelly Clarkson, and Brenda Lee who sent their good wishes to the singer, songwriter, and cooking show host, while many other friends and family were received backstage.
Congratulations to Trisha on her first 20 years, and here’s to 20 more.
