Wade Bowen calls his upcoming Solid Ground his “Texas album” and that’s saying something for a Texan. Bowen is trying to look back on his life now that he is older and wiser in order to try and make sense of everywhere he’s been. It makes sense then that his first release is “So Long 6th Street”, an ode to Austin featuring Miranda Lambert and Jack Ingram.

In an interview with Billboard, Bowen said Miranda was a perfect fit for the track. “We’ve been friends for a long time,” Bowen says, “and I was like, ‘Hey, you just moved to Austin, why don’t you sing on this 6th Street song?'”

She said yes, and gives the nostalgic tune a boost of emotion and heart.

Solid Ground will release February 7 in the middle of Bowen’s current tour schedule. “We don’t ever stop touring. I believe I’ll be going to the UK again sometime before the end of the year, hitting the West Coast when we can, the East Coast, the normal regional tour around (Texas). It’s no different than it ever is. I’m just trying to hold on for dear life, man.”

You can catch him in Texas this spring. Future dates have yet to be announced.
