2013: Biggest Moments in Country Music So Far

This time of year the world turns to Nashville for the celebration of country music that is the CMAs. We’ve been looking forward to the big show for a while and took our own look back on our favorite country music moments of the year so far. This year has been a great one for country music. Soulful sounds and unlikely hit singers have made for some diverse listening, and watching.

Here are Country Outfitter’s 2013 Biggest Moments in Country Music to date:

Carrie Underwood at the Emmys: Crooner Carrie Underwood made history with her live tribute to the Beatles on the 50th anniversary of their first foray onto American soil. The performance was the most-Tweeted-about moment of the evening, according to Company Town.

Garth Brooks and George Strait at the ACM Awards: These two legends joined forces to pay tribute to the late Dick Clark, and the results were inspirational.

Non-Country Music Singers Cross Genres: Stevie Wonder and John Mayer both paired up with country music stars to perform at this year’s ACM awards. Mayer sang “Beat this Summer” with Brad Paisley, and Wonder took the stage twice–first with up-and-comer Hunter Hayes for “Sir Duke” and then again at the end of the night for a rendition of “Signed, Sealed, Delivered.

Taylor Swift Tops the MTV Music Awards: Reaching beyond the country scene, Taylor Swift’s video “I Knew You Were Trouble” landed the award for Top Female Video at the MTV Music Awards.

Add in performances by the ACM glam girls Pistol Annies and standout speeches by new Country Royalty Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton, and this has been a year to remember. Keep it classy out there, country guys and gals…and show off those Country Outfitter Boots the next time you hit the boards.
