There are a few things that stick with you like the infamous monsters from childhood movies. When you’re a child, anything that is lackluster from an aesthetic standpoint qualifies as a scary bad guy.

Unfortunately for claymation, nearly every character is lackluster, aesthetically speaking. Maybe this is because clay is a difficult medium to work with, or maybe this was the animator’s intent. Whichever it is, there are several unfortunate looking claymation characters.

5 Claymation Monsters Who Gave Us Claymation PTSD:

1. Bumble // “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Because what could be terrifying more than that nappy hair, blue lip combo?

2. Winter Warlock // “Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town”

It’s got to be all the sharp angles. And white on white on white isn’t working in his favor, either.

3. The Boogie Man // “The Nightmare Before Christmas

Because worms come out of his eyes and mouth and you find out that he’s entirely made out of bugs and it’s traumatizing.

4. Jack Skellington // “The Nightmare Before Christmas”

Even though he’s technically a good guy, he is still scary as you know what.

5. The Mayor // “The Nightmare Before Christmas”

Again, not technically a bad guy, but the spinning head and swirly eyes are strikingly similar to the “Saw” movie series.
