If you were born without a cell phone in your hand, yet had cable during elementary school and have ever owned a pair of Rebook Pumps unironically, you probably spent a good deal of time getting hyped for Nickelodeon’s original programming, Teen NBC on Saturday mornings and ABC’s TGIF on Friday evenings. The shows that aired on these stations in the late ’80s and early ’90s are cult classics these days, but really the one thing that binds them together is the top-notch work on the theme songs.

They just don’t write ’em like this anymore.

8 ’90s Teen TV Theme Songs That Will Totally Get Stuck in Your Head:

1. “Hey Dude” // Nickelodeon
A big city accountant takes over a dude ranch? Of course the theme song is going to be lit.

Lyric that still gets people today: “Better watch out for that killer cacti…”

2. “Hang Time” // TNBC
A girl basketball player on a boys’ high school basketball team? And the girl is really good and dates the other best player? Yep, just “sharin’ a dream so fine.”

Lyric that still gets people today: “We’re hot we’re in the zone.”

3. “Step By Step” // ABC’s TGIF
Patrick Duffy moved from Dallas to Wisconsin to raise a bunch of kids with Suzanne Somers. The theme song is a call-and-response and just magical.

Lyric that still gets people today: “Whoa, whoa, whoa, when the tears are over and the moment has come…”

4. “Salute Your Shorts” // Nickelodeon
The name of this show is not “Camp Awana,” but we still hold it in our hearts.

Lyric that still gets people today: “Get it right or pay the price.”

5. “City Guys” // TNBC
I still don’t know how I feel about this show, but I sing this song once or twice a week.

Lyric that still gets people today: “C-I-T-Y you can see why”

6. “California Dreams” // TNBC
This show was very “Saved By the Bell” meets “90210” and always felt dangerous to me.

Lyric that still gets people today: “Good vibrations, feelin’ mellow.”

7. “All That” // Nickelodeon
Imagine “Saturday Night Live” for kids, but with a super hip and kind of sexy theme song. Oh, you don’t have to imagine it. It happened. Yes, that’s really TLC.

Lyric that still gets people today: “So sit your booty on the floor or in a chair.”

8. “Guts” // Nickelodeon
Kids who dreamed of Olympic glory could achieve their goals Nerf style in the land of wonders that was Orlando, Florida back in the day. The show was basically like if Nerf was in charge of the summer games.

Lyric that still gets people today: “GUTS. Do do do do do you have it?”
