According to The Guardian, Adele has switched from independent record label XL in favor of Sony, to the tune of $90 million.
If paid out in full, it will be the biggest record deal in history.
And Adele is worth every penny. The 28-year-old was the best-selling artist in the world in 2015 after dropping 25 in November. To date, that album has generated $35 million in sales. In the US, the album claimed the largest single-week sales for an album since records began in 1991.
Sources are guessing the deal is likely for three albums.
Fans will remember Adele’s public criticism of Kesha’s record label earlier this year at the Brit Awards– Sony.
