As the weather gets colder, my desire to drink all the hot drinks grows stronger. In Bobby Flay’s recent episode of “Brunch at Bobby’s,” Bobby showed us how to make his Bourbon Apple Hot Toddy, and WOW. This recipe would be perfect to serve for your guests at your next bonfire, for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or to just whip up and enjoy next to a fire or with some Netflix.

It’s quick to make, and can easily be altered for a virgin option if needed. Not to mention, it will make your kitchen smell amazing. Two birds, one stone, you know?

Bobbly Flay’s Bourbon Apple Hot Toddy Recipe:

  • 6 cups apple cider
  • 2 tbsp. packed light brown sugar
  • A few gratings of nutmeg
  • Seeds from 1 vanilla bean
  • One 2-inch piece of orange zest
  • 3/4 cup bourbon
  • Whipped cream (for serving)
In a saucepan over medium-high heat, combine apple cider, brown sugar, nutmeg, vanilla seeds and orange zest and simmer for about 10 minutes. Pour or ladle the cider into mugs and top with a splash (or two) of bourbon, plus a little whipped cream. Throw some sprinkles or a dash of cinnamon on top for garnish, and enjoy while it’s hot!
