The other day while watching a new episode of the Netflix series, “House of Cards,” fictional President of the United States uttered some scary words, “I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but politics is no longer just theater. It’s show business.”

Oh, we’ve noticed, Mr. President, we’ve noticed.

As the race for the White House heats up, check out just how intertwined politics and show business have become. Turns out, if you want to run for elected office, it helps to have Oscar winners and reality TV stars on your team.

While a number of these “celebrities” weighing in on foreign policy or trade agreements seems downright silly, it is nice to remember that we live in a country in which you can weigh in on just about anything you want, anytime you want. Reality TV star or not.

For the most part, Hillary Clinton seems to be racking up the A-list celebrities and Donald Trump has a number of former professional wrestlers, reality TV stars and country-ish music singers in his corner.

And while no politician is typically in the business of turning down support, do the American people actually look to any of the Backstreet Boys’ brothers for political thoughtfulness?
