Charlie Daniels is Covering Bob Dylan

Long before Charlie Daniels was a household name he was a studio musician in Nashville, playing alongside the likes of Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and the Marshall Tucker Band. Of course, Daniels eventually made it big (real big) with his hit “Devil Went Down to Georgia.”

Just this week, Daniels has released Off the Grid — Doin’ It Dylan, a mostly-acoustic collection of the singer-songwriters songs, including “Tangled Up in Blue,” “I Shall Be Released” and “Mr. Tambourine Man.”

Last weekend he hit the airwaves and performed “Tangled Up in Blue,” which appeared on his Dylan’s Blood on the Tracks in 1975. Released as a single, it reached #31 on the Billboard Hot 100. Rolling Stone ranked it #68 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
