It seems like every week is a big week in country music. And that’s the way we like it! Here’s our weekly recap of everything (or a lot of) that happened this week.

ICYM: Luke Bryan Celebrates Year 38:  Luke Bryan celebrated his birthday on July 17.  Luke is now 38 years old, and we have been listening to his hits to help him ring in the next year! Happy birthday, Luke!

Little Big Town establishes release date for Pain KillerThe GRAMMY Award-winning group and summertime favorites, Little Big Town will release their sixth studio album, Pain Killer, on October 21st. The album features current single “Day Drinking,” the band’s highest chart debut to date. The foursome — Fairchild, Westbrook, Sweet and Kimberly Schlapman –co-wrote eight of the 13 tracks on the album.

Maggie Rose releases “Girl In Your Truck Song” as her newest single: Up-and-comer, Maggie Rose, has released her answer to bro-country in the form, “The Girl In Your Truck Song.” Here’s the kicker– she is clamoring to be the “girl” in the truck many male artists seem to be singing about on current songs.

Maddie and Tae’s new song “Girl In A Country Song”: On the heels of the bro-country craze, one female duo is striking back. Maddie and Tae’s debut single, “Girl in a Country Song” is a statement, to say the least. This song is the exact opposite of the Maggie Rose single, “Girl in Your Truck Song.” Directly saying in an interview with the Washington Post, “it would suck to be the girl in those songs,” Maddie and Tae seem to be throwing punches at Nashville’s biggest and brightest stars.

Brantley Gilbert Strikes Gold (Again): Brantley Gilbert, continuing to build on an already stellar year, strikes another career high-mark with the GOLD-certification of Just As I Am. His third studio album, which debuted at #1 on Billboard Country Albums Chart, also scored the third highest album debut of the year with over 212,000 copies sold in the first week. Brantley’s latest project has already produced the Platinum-certified, #1 lead single “Bottoms Up,” whose music video has seen over 23 million views. Quickly climbing the Country airplay charts, the Top 20-and-rising follow-up, “Small Town Throwdown,” features labelmates Justin Mooreand Thomas Rhett.

And that’s a wrap-up of all of the exciting things happening in country music this week! Have a good weekend!
