It seems like every week is a big week in country music. And that’s the way we like it! Here’s our weekly recap of everything (or a lot of) that happened this week.
Brad Paisley unveiled the album cover on Jimmy Kimmel Live! for his new album, Moonshine in the Trunk. The album is set for release August 26. You can check out his performance of the title song below:
Singer/Songwriter Kacey Musgraves releases her new track, “The Trailer Song.” The cheeky song addresses that nosy neighbor everyone has had at one point. We love the old-fashioned country sound that begins with the steel guitar. Musgraves also performed the song on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. You can see that performance here:
Kimberly Perry, of The Band Perry, recently wed J.P. Arencibia, a major league baseball player. The two tied the knot in Perry’s hometown of Greenville, Tennessee at Christ Chapel First Presbyterian Church. Perry’s brothers and bandmates, Neil and Reed, served as her best men.
Miranda Lambert makes a surprise stop in Florida. Florida fans were treated to a surprise concert on the Miranda Lambert tour Saturday when Lambert’s signature platinum buses rolled into town. At 1:30pm the country music superstar tweeted a photo from in front of the venue, saying, “We were on our way to Jacksonville and decided to stop in Ft. Walton Beach tonight!” Aren’t they lucky?
Luke Bryan took to the field with the St. Louis Cardinals. Everyone’s favorite hip-shaking country music star hit the diamond last week in between playing two sold out shows in St. Louis. Bryan is good friends with Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright, so he was able to vouch for the singer’s playing abilities.
Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman showed up for a surprise visit with the kids at Monash Children’s Hospital in Australia. What was not expected: An impromptu concert / sing-along with patients and staff. Who knew Nicole had such a lovely voice? Is there a duet album in the couple’s future? We’d listen to that. And you can listen to it here:
Kelly Clarkson welcomes baby. Over the weekend, Kelly Clarkson and husband, Brandon Blackstock, welcomed their daughter into the world. This is big news on all fronts and we’re very excited for Kelly and Brandon, but what we really want to know is what grandmother Reba McEntire is going to be called.
Kacey Musgraves and Katy Perry meet at The Crossroads to film their performance for CMT’s Crossroads. Both performed songs form each others albums. We were excited to learn that Katy Perry is joining Musgraves on some of her tour dates which is sure to be a huge crowd pleaser!
Chris Young performs in a sling. Remember when Chris Young cut his hand last week while cooking dinner? The injury forced the country music artist to cancel an autograph session and performance during the CMA Music Festival in Nashville. He is on the mend, but in the meantime he is giving fans what they want, his music.
And that’s a wrap!
