Middle-Aged Couple Attempts The “Dirty Dancing” Lift, Both End Up Hospitalized

Andy and Sharon were recently engaged and decided to celebrate the moment by attempting an iconic scene from one of their favorite movies, “Dirty Dancing.” With no practice, no prep, Sharon charged Andy and leapt into the air. The next thing she knew, both were in an ambulance. Whoops.

The happy couple was going for this:

They had the best intentions, but, oh man, they really weren’t the couple that should be attempting this cold. Both are in their fifties, have grandchildren, and neither are dancers.

It was a classic three-act story.

Act 1: In the beginning, it was all potential energy, hopes, expectations, and determination.

Act 2: Everything is kinetic energy, action, momentum, the thrill of lift off!

Act 3: The aftermath.

Andy was left unconscious and both were badly bruised, but made a full recovery without serious injury.

“We were both badly bruised but we’re alright now,” Sharon said. “I think we’re going to go for a slow one for our first dance.”

Look, if you are going to try this you have to practice! “Dirty Dancing” had a whole montage of practice.

Jennifer Grey wouldn’t even try this. “Never rehearsed it, never done it since.” she once said. “I don’t know how all these people who reenact it have the guts to throw themselves into the arms of anyone other than Patrick Swayze. It’s insane!”
