He may be leading the pack in the GOP right now, but just a few years ago real estate mogul and red cap salesman Donald Trump was on the receiving end of one of the most devastating finishing moves in pro wrestling–the Stone Cold Stunner. Back in 2007, Trump faced off against WWE CEO Vince McMahon during Wrestlemania 23. The match was refereed by none other than the Texas Rattlesnake himself, Stone Cold Steve Austin. After winning the match, Austin handed him a can of beer, chugged his own beer, then turned around and delivered the stunner to Trump because, well, no real discernible reason really.
Years later on his podcast, Austin recalled, “It was one of the worst stunners I’ve ever done but that’s a Donald Trump story for ya and that’s why I’ve always respected him.”
Trump has since made a full recovery, and has also garnered the respect of WWE legends Hulk Hogan and Jerry “The King” Lawler, who have both endorsed him for president. He was elected to the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013.
