Jamie Foxx Performed a Love Song For Cleveland, The Saddest City In America

In this troubling time, when the world feels like it spinning out of control, we all just need to know everything will be OK. Of course, I’m talking about the Cleveland Cavaliers losing the NBA Finals. Where do we (pretty much just people in Cleveland, Ohio) go from here? Thank the Lord for Jamie Foxx, aka Eric Marlon Bishop, who not only feels Cleveland’s pain, but knew how to cheer them up: with a song..

The voice that became Ray Charles and won an Oscar knows that Cleveland doesn’t have a lot going for it, so he listed the many-ish things Cleveland should be proud of: the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame, LeBron James, Lake Erie, those delicious pork perogies, Hallie Berry, and Drew Carey. Don’t worry Cleveland, you’ll always have Cleveland.

That’s not a great consolation, but you should hold your head up, Cleveland! You’re great, I assume. The pictures on your city’s tourism website look like beautiful stock imagery of non-descript America. Sure, we’d all like to flee to the Cleve and have lunch with Little Richard, but we fight those urges because we have responsibilities here at home, a place we know is real.

Whatever, Cleve. You’ll always have the King.
