My boy band fandom fizzled out about the time New Kids on the Block left the block. By the time the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC took over the radio and MTV, I had moved on to more sophisticated tunes like “Tub Thumping” by Chumbawamba and “No Scrubs” by TLC.
However, if I had to choose between the competing bands, I would lean heavily towards BSB. Especially when they dropped “I Want It That Way” in 1999. I loved that song and hated how much I loved it.
Enter the Dirty Pop at Sea Caribbean cruise featuring Lance Bass and Joey Fatone. These two members of *NSYNC could pick any song they wanted for a karaoke performance, but what did they choose? BSB’s legendary “I Want It That Way.”
This is truly amazing and a little sad at the same time.
