These days, network television isn’t usually the place to go if you want to hear a classic hymn unless you’re watching “The Voice” and Jordan Smith and his coach, Adam Levine, decide it’s the time and the place for the world to hear it.

Smith, who regularly sings on Sunday mornings at his church in Kentucky, took the hymn which references Lamentations 3:22-23 and made very few adjustments, but still made it his own. Adam opted to send him out onto the stage with just his piano and one spotlight and there wasn’t one thing he could have done differently or better.

Jordan’s version is currently sitting at No. 1 on the iTunes chart. It was originally penned in 1923.
