“Saturday Night Live” Opens with Hillary Clinton Singing Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”

In the wake of the most troubling and diversifying election this country has ever seen, “Saturday Night Live” went for stoic over funny by paying tribute to Hillary Clinton and the late Leonard Cohen.

Just days after the legendary singer-songwriter passed away at the age of 82, Kate McKinnon dressed in a white pantsuit took the stage solo and sat at the piano to play the classic “Hallelujah.”

At times, it was hard to tell if the show was mourning Cohen or the election– which was probably the point.

McKinnon, nor Clinton, are strong vocalists so there was even more sincerity in the bit than normal.

At the end, McKinnon turned to the camera and said, “I’m not giving up and neither should you.”
