Up-and-coming singer Madison Watkins is proof that hard work, confidence and pure talent are the key ingredients to fulfilling your dreams.

Over the past few months, Madison has released an album, started a nonprofit and auditioned for the popular TV show “America’s Got Talent,” all whilst building a faithful fan-base and an unmistakable name for herself.

Basically, she’s a uber-talented bombshell who’s about to take the entertainment industry by storm.

Madison and I have actually known each other for years now, so I can tell you, from personal experience, that she has everything it takes to be a star. Not only does she exude confidence and have one of the biggest personalities I’ve ever encountered, but she’s naturally talented, stunningly beautiful and has a good head on her shoulders.

Not too long ago, Madison had the opportunity to fulfill one of her lifelong dreams by performing in front of one of the music industry’s greatest assets, Simon Cowell, when she auditioned for “AGT.” Though the 21-year-old artist was eliminated during the show’s second round, according to her, it was one of the most fulfilling and exciting experiences of her life.

Recently, I had the opportunity to catch up with Madison and talk with her about what it was like auditioning for “AGT.”

“I think the coolest thing about auditioning for the show was getting the
opportunity to show America what I was capable of doing. The platform this show
gave me was incredible,” she said. “I decided to audition for the show because I knew I would get to finally sing in front of Simon Cowell. He is one of the most influential people in music and I wanted to see what he thought about my voice.”

We also discussed the heart behind her original music, her biggest musical inspirations, the first time she ever performed and her nonprofit, the Glow Movement.

12 Things You Didn’t Know About Former “America’s Got Talent” Contestant Madison Watkins:

1. She was most excited to audition for Simon Cowell on “AGT.”

“I was most excited to meet Simon Cowell. Most people dread singing in front of him because he is so critical. It has been a dream of mine to sing in front of him since I was 13 years old. Little do people know, he is actually really nice and made my experience wonderful. After being cut from the show he assured me that I have what it takes to be in this industry that is so competitive which was a huge encouragement to me.”

2. “AGT” judge (and total babe) Heidi Klum is one of her biggest fans.

“I was most surprised by Heidi Klum. She was the most supportive judge out of all of them, and was genuinely interested in who I was. In each round she told me she would fight for me until the end. She was a fan of mine, which was so humbling.”

3. She has an album out and it’s called Glow.

“My album ‘Glow’ was inspired by the younger version of myself. Growing up, I would always tell people that I was going to be a professional singer. Most of my teachers, classmates, and even close friends would laugh and ask, ‘What will your real job be?’ I didn’t ever feel like I could truly be myself without people telling me I had to be something else. That is why I wanted people to know that they can glow no matter what people were telling them about who they are. They can follow the dreams they have had forever.”

4. Her favorite song on the album is “Can’t Be Broken.”

“My favorite song on my album is ‘Can’t Be Broken.’ I love the message that no matter what you are going through, you will come out a stronger person because of it.”

5. She started a non-profit called the Glow Movement.

“I started something when my album came out called the Glow Movement. It is a nonprofit that allows me to go into schools and talk about knowing your identity, setting goals for yourself, and surrounding yourself with people that will allow you to glow or pursue your passions. My favorite appearance I did this year was at the Sam’s Club headquarters. I got to speak to around 1,000 students who were in 8th grade. Encouraging kids is the most exciting thing for me.”

6. She has a new song coming out in the fall.

“I am working on a new single that will hopefully release this fall! I am so excited to get back into the studio with my producer, Symbolyc One. It is a treat to get to work with him.”

7. She loves Tori Kelly.

“I have been really into an artist named Tori Kelly. I not only love her music, but she is so genuine, and that is so important to me.”

8. Whitney Houston is one of her biggest music idols.

“My all time favorite artist growing up was Whitney Houston. She was someone with a powerful voice, but also added the most fun element to her music. I used to sing karaoke in my room to her songs all the time… If you play any of her music, I will know every word.”

9. She has “a million” nicknames.

“I have a million nicknames: Maddie Moo Moo, Red, Mad Wat, Dinky… The list goes on.”

10. Before performing, she needs her alone time.

“Before any show I like to take time alone to pray, listen to music or just sit in silence. I have to prepare my mind before I deliver to a crowd.”

11. Her dream collaboration would be with Beyonce.

“My dream collaboration would be to perform a song with Beyonce. It would not only be fun to sing with her, but to dance on stage with her too.”

12. The first time she performed, she got a standing ovation.

“The first song I ever performed was in a church musical. It was the moment I knew I wanted to do this for the rest of my career. The crowd gave me a standing ovation after I sang and it was incredible.”
