If you’re allergic to the sun or don’t like loud noises, maybe it’s best that you spend your long 4th of July weekend inside catching up on a patriotic movie or eight.
8 Patriotic Movies That’ll Make You Love America:
1. “The Patriot” // Amazon
It’s even kind of based on a true story– or four, supposedly.
2. “Patton” // Netflix
Intense, but solid. George C. Scott won the Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of General George S. Patton.
3. “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington“ // Hulu
Mr. Smith might’ve been the first guy who tried to drain the swamp.
4. “Saving Private Ryan” // Amazon
The opening battle scene is considered one of the best of all-time.
5. “The Roosevelts” // Netflix
It’s approximately 14 hours long, but if you’ve got a long weekend, might as well give it a shot.
6. “Lincoln” // Amazon (Free on Showtime)
The film was loosely based on Doris Kearns Goodwin’s biography, “Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln.” Loosely meaning about 15 pages. The movie is good and so is the book.
7. “Forrest Gump” // Netflix
It’s not, not historical and patriotic.
8. “John Adams” // Amazon
Ten hours about one of the guys who made this country into what it is? That’s almost not enough. Plus, you get a classic love story too.
