Have you heard this rumor about Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, running for president?
Apparently it all started during an interview when he was asked if he would ever consider a presidential run.
“Yeah, of course, I would consider it,” he responded.
Then the world blew up. Figuratively. So many people ran with this part of the story that a national poll was actually taken to see if he could beat Donald Trump in an election.
“I’m so incredibly flattered,” Dwayne told Jimmy Fallon. “There’s a national poll that came out this week. Real news channels. Real national poll that brought together Republicans and Democrats that said I would beat Donald Trump if we had an election today to become president. I’ve really been blown away.”
And he’s ever got a theory as to why people gravitated toward the story.
“I think it’s because a lot of people want to see a different leadership today — I’m sorry, a better leadership today — more poise, less noise,” he said. “I think over the years, I’ve become a guy that a lot of people relate to. I get up early in the morning at a ridiculous hour and go to work. Spend time with the troops. Take care of my family. I think that really resonates with people.”
Is The Rock actually going to run for president? “Three and a half years is a long way away so we’ll see,” he says.
