In Dierks Bentley’s latest hit, “I Hold On,” he sings about his old truck and how even though he’s “made it” he doesn’t want to trade it in for anything. Not even a rocket.
It’s just an old beat up truck,
Some say that I should trade up
Now that I got some jangle in my pocket.
But what they don’t understand
Is it’s the miles that make a man.
I wouldn’t trade that thing in for a rocket.
What they don’t know is my dad and me–
We drove her out to Tennessee
And she’s still here and now he’s gone
So I hold on.
I definitely can understand the sentiment here, but really, Dierks? Not even a rocket? A rocket! I think I’d have to take someone up on that offer.
Here are all the things I would trade the truck for, including a rocket:
1. A rocket
2. A puppy that stays a puppy forever
3. Lifetime supply of pizza
4. A better, nicer truck
5. A personal serenade from George Strait
6. A perfect NCAA tournament bracket (and that $1 billion)
7. A yacht
I think the rocket is a pretty reasonable trade-in, Dierks. You should think about it.
What about you, would you trade it in? I mean, it’s a rocket.
