The Internet Is Obsessed With This Old Fashioned Custard Pie Recipe


Sometimes the internet gets obsessed with something, and there’s really nothing that makes it particularly special. That’s definitely not the case with this old fashioned custard pie. This custard pie recipe has been taking the world by storm, and it’s obvious why. This Southern staple can’t be ignored, making it the perfect dessert for any occasion.


  • 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg white
  • 2 1/2 cups scalded milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Blend eggs, sugar, salt, and vanilla. Add scalded milk one cup at a time.
Line pan with pie crust, brush with egg white, then pour custard mixture into crust. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Bake 30 to 35 minutes, or until a knife comes out clean when inserted into the center. Cool, serve, and enjoy.
