What’s better than Taco Bell making a french fry dish? Being able to replicate it at home, obviously. These copycat Taco Bell nacho fries will be your new favorite guilty pleasure.



  • 5 large russet potatoes, peeled and cut into thick strips
  • 1 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder


  • 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • Kosher salt


  • 3 tbsp. butter
  • 1 jalapeño, seeds removed and minced
  • 3 tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. whole milk
  • 2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
  • Kosher salt


  • 1 tbsp. sour cream
  • 1/4 c. grape tomatoes, quartered
  • 1 scallion, thinly sliced


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Toss potato wedges in olive oil and season with salt, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne and onion powder and spread in an even layer on a baking sheet.
  3. Roast for 15 minutes, toss and roast for an additional 15 minutes or until the potatoes are tender in the center and crispy on the outside.
  4. Meanwhile, in a medium skillet, combine beef with chili powder and onion powder, then season with salt.
  5. Cook until all of the pink is gone, drain and set aside.
  6. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and add jalapenos and cook for 2 minutes.
  7. Add flour and cook until darkened, about 2 minutes more.
  8. Add milk and bring to a simmer, then whisk in cheese and let thicken for 3 minutes.
  9. Place fries in a shallow bowl, then top with cheese sauce, beef, sour cream, tomatoes, and scallions.
