Fourth of July, it’s the ultimate summer holiday! It’s the day Americans gather together to celebrate the birthday of our nation. There will be lots of barbecues, swimming, fireworks and of course, food!

We don’t know about you, but one of our favorite food groups is dessert! That’s why we rounded up four simple, (because who wants to be in the kitchen on a holiday?) patriotic desserts that everyone will love!

Here Are 4 Easy Fourth of July Dessert Recipes

1. Patriotic Trifle

1 package berry blue gelatin

1 package strawberry gelatin

2 cups boiling water

1 cup cold water

2 cups cold milk

2 packages instant vanilla pudding mix

1 carton frozen whipped topping, thawed, divided

1 pint fresh blueberries

1 quart fresh strawberries, quartered

1 prepared angel food cake, cut into 1-inch cubes

In two small bowls, combine each gelatin flavor with 1 cup boiling water. Stir 1/2 cup cold water into each. Pour each into an ungreased 9-in. square pan. Refrigerate for 1 hour or until set.

In a large bowl, whisk milk and pudding mixes for 2 minutes. Let stand for 2 minutes or until soft-set. Fold in 2 cups whipped topping.

Set aside 1/4 cup blueberries and 1/2 cup strawberries for garnish. Cut the gelatin into 1-in. cubes. In a 3-qt. trifle bowl or serving dish, layer the strawberry gelatin, half of the cake cubes, the remaining blueberries and half of the pudding mixture.

Top with blue gelatin and remaining cake cubes, strawberries and pudding mixture. Garnish with reserved berries and remaining whipped topping. Serve immediately.

2. American Flag Cake

1 package yellow cake mix

1 container frozen whipped topping, thawed

1 pint blueberries, rinsed and drained

2 pints fresh strawberries, rinsed and sliced

Prepare cake according to package directions and bake in a 9×13 inch pan. Cool completely.

Frost cake with whipped topping. Place blueberries in a square in the corner, and arrange sliced strawberries as stripes to make an American flag. Chill until serving.

3. Patriotic Star Brownies

1 box brownie mix

1/2 cup white frosting

red, white and blue star sprinkles

Heat oven to 350°F. Line 9-inch square pan with foil so foil extends about 2 inches over sides of pan. Spray foil with cooking spray. Make and bake brownies as directed on box. Cool completely, about 1 1/2 hours.

Remove brownies from pan by lifting foil; peel foil from sides of brownies. Using 2 1/2-inch star-shaped cookie cutter, cut brownies. Squeeze frosting on star-shaped brownies. Decorate with sprinkles.

1 tbs butter

2 c. crispy rice cereal

red and blue food coloring

3oz marshmallows

Add 1 tablespoon of butter to a large saucepan.

Over low heat, melt the butter, adding 3oz of marshmallows (1/3 of a standard size bag) let melt.

Remove from heat.

Add food coloring to your mixture and mix well. (you won’t need food coloring on one layer)

Add 2 cups of cereal and stir well.

You should have a nice gooey mess.

Use a spatula to firmly press the layer of treats into a baking dish coated with cooking spray.

Rinse the pan and repeat above until you have all 3 colors needed.
