We’ve all been there: things get busy and by the end of the week, it looks like a tornado has crashed through your home. If you know you have a busy week coming up, here are some tips to ensure your home isn’t a disaster by the time the weekend rolls around. May the clutter gods be ever in your favor.
5 Tips For Keeping Your Home Clean During a Busy Week:
1. Take time to tidy up the Sunday before.
If you know the upcoming week is going to be especially hectic, set aside a couple of hours on the Sunday before for a deep cleaning. This ensures you’ll only need to tidy up throughout the week, not take on a full window-cleaning mission. So, vacuum the living room, scrub down the shower and clean all the mirrors – here’s your one chance!
2. Set aside 15 minutes a day to tidy up.
Set your alarm for 15 minutes earlier in the morning, or put aside some time before you go to bed. Consciously giving yourself some cleaning time will make a big difference by the end of the week, and the clutter will keep from piling up.
3. Clean as you go.
Yup, no leaving those dishes in the sink after dinner or leaving your clothes strewn across the floor after a shower. If you take care of cleaning up then and there, messes will be avoided altogether.
4. Make the bed right as you wake up.
That’s right: Jump out of bed in the morning and make your bed right away. You’ll probably still be half asleep, so it’s like it never happened… right?!
Unload the dishwasher while your morning coffee brews, or wipe down the countertops while the pasta water boils. Avoid using downtime to browse the web or generally do anything unproductive. Every minute counts!
