Although Bloody Marys are commonplace in the cocktail world today, this obviously wasn’t always the case. At one point, some genius—seriously, absolute genius—had to decide to mix all of those seemingly complementary ingredients together, and then actually take a sip. But we’re so happy they did! Nowadays, Bloody Marys are a brunch staple, and most famous for their hangover-curing abilities. But that doesn’t mean you need to keep drinking the same ol’ traditional kind!

Here are 6 recipes that will make you question everything you thought you knew about Bloody Marys:

1. Mango Mary


1 mango, skinned, pitted, and chopped

Juice of 1 large lime (save leftover pieces of lime)

6 ounces bloody mary mix

4 ounces vodka

1 teaspoon chili powder

½ teaspoon chipotle powder

¼ teaspoon coarse salt (sea salt works best)

Celery, for garnish


In a blender on high speed, blend mango, lime juice, Bloody Mary mix, and vodka until combined. In a shallow bowl, mix chili powder, chipotle powder, and salt. Rub the rim of your glass with the leftover lime pieces and dip into spices. Add ice, pour bloody mary mixture into glass, and garnish with celery. You’ll even have enough to share with a friend!

2. Lime Bloody Maria


Bloody mary mix

2 ounces tequila

Juice of ½ a lime (save leftover pieces of lime)

Worcestershire sauce

Sea salt


Rub the rim of a glass with the leftover lime and dip in sea salt. Fill glass halfway with bloody mary mix. Add in tequila, lime juice, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir ingredients together, add ice, and garnish however you’d like!

3. Kickin’ BLT Bloody Mary



1 cup green tomatoes

2 tablespoons (⅛ cup) cucumber, chopped

½ teaspoon red wine vinegar

½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Juice of ½ a lime

¼ jalapeno, chopped

½ teaspoon horseradish

2 ounces vodka

Salt, to taste

1 romaine lettuce leaf, for garnish

1 strip crispy bacon, for garnish

Cherry tomatoes, for garnish


In a blender, add tomatoes, cucumbers, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, lime juice, and jalapeno. Blend on high until mixture is smooth. Stir in horseradish, vodka, and salt. Fill a tall glass with ice and pour in bloody mary mixture. Garnish with lettuce, bacon, and tomatoes and you’ve got yourself a meal in a glass!

4. Sriracha Bloody Mary


2 ounces vodka

Splash of Worcestershire sauce

Juice of ½ a lime

1 drop liquid smoke

1 ½ teaspoons Sriracha

Bloody mary mix

Celery, for garnish


Mix vodka, Worcestershire sauce, lime juice, liquid smoke, and Sriracha in tall glass. Add bloody mary mix to fill glass. Garnish with celery and prepare to be blown away.

5. Bloody Mary with Clamato Juice


2 ounces vodka

½ tablespoon lemon juice

¼ teaspoon horseradish sauce

¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

¼ teaspoon chipotle tabasco sauce

¼ teaspoon celery salt

Clamato juice

Cheese cubes, for garnish

Olives, for garnish


In a tall glass, stir together vodka, lemon juice, horseradish sauce, Worcestershire sauce, tabasco sauce, and celery salt. Top glass off with Clamato juice and garnish with cheese cubes and olives.

6. Cajun-Style Bloody Mary


1 (46-ounce) bottle vegetable juice (V8 is a great choice)

1 ½ cups vodka

½ cup lemon juice

¼ cup liquid from jar of pickled jalapeños

3 tablespoons Cajun seasoning

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 ½ tablespoons prepared horseradish

Lemon wedges, for garnish

Celery, for garnish


Mix ingredients together in a pitcher and put in the refrigerator to chill. When ready to serve, pour mixture into tall glasses and garnish with lemon or celery—or both!
