I always overlook the presentation of food. Every time a meal is placed in front of a person, they stare at their plate and immediately evaluate whether it is good or not. This is why it’s so frustrating cooking something you have seen on the Food Network: it doesn’t look as good as it did in the show. But what if we just went our own way, making food we liked and thought was nice looking? That’s what amateur pie maker Lauren Ko did and she now has 84,000 followers on Instagram clamoring for her creations.
Ko spends her free time baking pies one the weekend for her friends and family. But these pies are more than sweet treats; Ko turns her pies into works of art that highlight her fillings. For example, her cranberry pie featured an intricate spiral lattice that formed a bowl for her perfect Paradise Meadow cranberries.
Ko improvises the crusts and fillings, trusting her intuition over planning. The results are stunning.
Pomegranate Goldenberry
Chai Masala Pumpkin Pie
Pumpkin Spice Latte Cinnamon Rolls
It’s not technically a pie, but c’mon. This is amazing. You would 100% buy this and eat it all by yourself.
Bourbon Pecan Pie with Dark Chocolate.
Van Gogh would be proud.
Ombre Cherry Tart
Miso Caramel Pear Pie
And my favorite: Cardamom-spiced cream and cinnamon-scented wine-soaked pears layered on buttery shortbread
WHAT!? I need this in my mouth right now.
