4 DIY Treatments for Dry Hands

Winter can wreak havoc on our hands. The harsh temperatures along with lower humidity levels leaves hands dry, itchy and just generally uncomfortable. What’s a girl to do? She turns to her pantry for DIY solutions she can do in the comfort of her home. So invite over a few of your friends for a girls night in and get those pretty hands back in perfect shape!

1. Avocado Hand Mask


1 ripe avocado

2 tablespoons honey (raw, not processed)

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 teaspoons plain yogurt

10 drops of your favorite essential oil (optional)


Blend all ingredients together in a food processor or blender.

Apply to hands and feet, then wrap in plastic bags and a towel to allow the mask to penetrate the skin more effectively.

2. Coconut Oil Hand Treatment


Organic Coconut oil


Rub 1 teaspoon of oil into hands and cuticles. Wrap each hand in a small towel, and allow the oil to penetrate for at least 5 minutes. Wipe the excess oil off hands, but don’t rinse them; any remaining oil will be absorbed over the next few minutes. Follow with a rich hand cream.

3. Exfoliating Hand Treatment


1/2 cup oatmeal

1/2 cup coarse sea salt

1/2 cup softened coconut oil

4 tablespoons aloe vera gel


In a large bowl, combine all ingredients. Apply to hands, gently scrub in a circular motion for 2 – 3 minutes. Rinse, follow up with hand cream.

4. Lemon Sugar Hand Scrub


2/3 cup of sugar to a jar or container of your choice (whatever sugar you have in the pantry is fine).

1/4 cup of either coconut oil or olive oil.

1 lemon


Slowly add oil to sugar in container of choice. Stir as you go. It will seem sand that is slightly damp

Add the juice of one lemon (can substitute lemon juice concentrate)

Mix well

Apply to hands and rub together. Rinse and apply hand cream.
