New Orleans is home to some of the best food in the country, and it’s also known for being one of America’s music capitals. You might be thinking that New Orleans is only home to jazz and Cajun-style clubs, but you would be mistaken! In fact, in New Orleans one can find a wide range of bars and clubs where you can enjoy hip-hop, slow dance – or even two-step! Are you a country fan who wants to go out dancing in New Orleans? Then check out five great spots to do it below.

Bourbon Cowboy Bar

In the heart of the French Quarter, on the rowdiest street in America, is Bourbon Cowboy, a country-western bar with some real southern flare. Bourbon Cowboy is a honky-tonk saloon, and the speakers are always playing the best mix of country anywhere in the area. Get in line and dance it up on the dance floor with your buddies, or jump on the mechanical bull and try to stay on! Bourbon Cowboy is one of the most dependable places to find a two-step party in the Crescent City.

Mag’s 940 Bar

On Elysian Fields Ave in New Orleans is a rare gem of a bar – Mag’s 940 – a gay bar that draws in a huge crowd of all types of people nightly in New Orleans. It’s not a country-western bar every night, but throughout the year, Mag’s 940 throws country-western nights, where patrons can come to learn how to two-step and line dance, then put their skills into action on the dance floor. Country-western nights start at 8 p.m. and don’t end until the bar shuts down — so come here if you want to two-step to the wee hours of the morning!

Coyote Ugly Bar

You might be able to find outposts of this bar all over the country, but the Coyote Ugly Bar in New Orleans is one that will not disappoint. Put on your cowboy hat and jeans, and head on down to this bar to enjoy country-western line dancing and two-stepping (and pretty waitresses). The bar is country-western themed too, so if you’re really country at heart, you’ll feel right at home here.

Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Revue

So, it’s not a specific place, but New Orleans-based local band Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Revue puts on regular shows throughout the year where you can get your two step on. Gal Holiday travels – some nights the band plays at Le Bon Temps Roule, and sometimes they play at Rock ‘n’ Bowl. Check her website to find out when and where her shows are happening. She plays all the time, so chances are you’ll be able to catch a show no matter when you’re in town — and there’s no better place to two-step in the city than a Gal Holiday show!
