Chick-Fil-A restaurants are known for their funny cow commercials, customer service, “my pleasure” slogan, and being closed on Sundays; but one Chick-Fil-A in West Mobile, Alabama, accidentally upset a neighboring family owned BBQ joint when they advertised their Smokehouse BBQ Sandwich on their outdoor sign earlier this summer. Their nearby neighbor, Moe’s Original Bar B Que, responded by changing their outdoor sign to read, “Chick-Fil-A, I thought we were friends,” and also pointedly added “Open Sundays.”
Chick-Fil-A quickly tried to mend the situation and changed their sign to read, “Moe’s, we miss you. Let’s be friends.” Moe’s changed its sign again to read, “Chick-Fil-A, I’m with Diamonds (a local gentlemen’s club) now…But It would be my pleasure.”
Chick-Fil-A seized on the newly-restored friendship and asked (via sign), “Moe’s, so happy for you! As friends, can we ask a favor?” To which Moe’s replied, “My pleasure, Chick-Fil-A. What can Moe’s BBQ Do for you?”
Chick-Fil-A boldly asked, “Moe’s any way we could get a look at that white BBQ recipe?” adding a wink and referencing Moe’s signature white barbecue sauce.
Moe’s wasted no time changing its sign to read, “Shyeah, We’ll send it over when pigs fly.”
At this point, the gentleman’s club, Diamonds, jumped in on the sign war and changed its sign to read, “Let her go, Moe.”
The hilarious sign war has kept drivers in West Mobile laughing and both restaurants have gotten a bit of free advertising as the Facebook post shown below has been shared more than 6,000 times.
