Over the past three years, HGTV’s Chip and Joanna Gaines have become some of the most well known and well respected names in the world of home improvement.

With their show “Fixer Upper,” store Magnolia Market and highly active social media accounts, the two have basically every corner of the home improvement market covered.

And while fans look at them first and foremost for home improvement advice and inspiration, some of them have also started to view the Gaines’ parenting style as something else to emulate.

Recently, the couple sat down with Entertainment Tonight to talk about how fame has effected their day to day life, Joanna’s upcoming clothing line and why they aren’t planning on getting their kids cellphones.

“I tell the kids that you are probably not going to get a cellphone,” Joanna said. “We want to teach our kids that life happens outside of these devices. It’s just a simple thing to go outside and connect with nature, play with your friends and get dirty.”

Honestly, this is the mentality more parents should adopt — don’t you think?
