Getting the perfect hem on a pair of skinny jeans is hard, especially if you’re trying to tackle the job yourself.

The frayed hem look has been coming around a lot more lately, and I’ll admit I was skeptical at first, but now I can’t get enough of them! You can find fray hem jeans at most of your favorite retailers, but grabbing a pair (or two) of jeans you already have and trying this quick DIY will save you some money (and give you a practically whole new pair of jeans)!

Here’s How To Make Your Own DIY Frayed Hem Jeans:

  • Tweezers
  • Scissors
  • Eyeliner pencil
  • Jeans

Try on your jeans and roll them up to the ideal length. Remove the jeans and make sure the cuffs are even, then cut them along the hem line. Take your eyeliner pencil and mark the highest point you would want your fringe to reach. Then, take your scissors and cut up to the line, pulling apart each strip a bit as you cut until you make your way around the entire cuff. Take your tweezers and remove any unwanted strands and use your fingers to pull out thread for detailing.
