Oprah Says She and Reese Witherspoon Have a Special Bond Because “Southern Girls Have a Thing,” and It’s Vague But True

Reese Witherspoon and Oprah Winfrey are quickly becoming one of my favorite duos of all-time. The two are starring alongside Mindy Kaling in Disney’s upcoming movie, “A Wrinkle in Time,” and we can hardly wait to see it– and now, the two are sharing some details about what it was like to work together, and it’s as perfect as we’d hoped it would be.

“I can’t remember the last time I had that much fun,” Winfrey told WSJ Magazine. “We were alive in that trailer every morning. Reese was the DJ, playing all this old Southern blues music.”

Oprah and Reese first met back in 2005 when Reese was promoting her movie “Walk The Line,” and they’ve been buddies ever since. The two also share a hometown– Reese was born in New Orleans but grew up in Nashville, and Oprah moved to Nashville as a teenager.

“I think Southern girls have a thing,” Oprah said of her relationship with Reese.

True, Oprah. True.

Reese took to Instagram on Oprah’s birthday to share a sweet message to her friend:

“Happy Birthday to the one and only Oprah. Your light shines so bright in this world. Thank you for inspiring me to do more for others, for teaching me that I have courage to be bold, and for making me the best margarita I have had in years. Shine on, my brilliant friend!”
