Mark your calendars y’all, because the greatest crossover of all time is about to happen.
Earlier this year, Reese Witherspoon announced that she would be releasing a new southern lifestyle book this fall, called “Whiskey in a Teacup.”
“I’m so excited my new book is coming out Sep 18th, y’all!” she said when she announced the news. The book’s title is based on a saying of Reese’s grandmother Dorthea about how beauty and strength make southern women whiskey in a teacup. We may be delicate and ornamental on the outside, she said, but inside we’re strong and fiery.
Reese has now released her stops for her “Whiskey in a Teacup” book tour and it looks like she’s paying a visit to Chip and Joanna Gaines! According to the “Whiskey in a Teacup” website, Reese’s last stop on her tour will be to Magnolia Market at the Silos in Waco on September 27— and, she says she’s bringing a “special guest” with her to each stop, so we can only hope (and assume) it’ll be Joanna Gaines herself!
“My Southern heritage informs my whole life, and spreading the gospel of Southern living has become sort of an obsession of mine,” Reese says of the book. “I bring the South everywhere I go with bluegrass, big holiday parties, and plenty of Dorothea’s fried chicken. It’s reflected in how I entertain, decorate my home, and make holidays special for my kids—not to mention how I talk, dance, and do my hair (in these pages, you will learn my fail-proof, only slightly insane hot-roller technique). I love sharing Dorothea’s most delicious recipes as well as my favorite Southern traditions, from midnight barn parties to backyard bridal showers, magical Christmas mornings to rollicking honkytonks. I hope you’ll see how easy it is for you to bring a little bit of the South to your home, no matter where you live. After all, there’s a Southern side to every place in the world, right?”
