Two words. Electronic devices. Specifically, cell phones and tablets. While we can’t actually blame the devices, we can blame the guests who are using them. Thomas Stewart, a professional photographer based in Australia, is over guests with cell phones and tablets at weddings. In a 530-word Facebook rant, he asks, no, he begs brides and grooms to have ‘unplugged’ wedding ceremonies with no electronic devices allowed.
He understands that these guests are well-meaning, but he also wants you to imagine yourself walking down the aisle only to see the faces of your closest friends and family staring at their cell phone screens instead of at you.
Don’t believe him? Check out this photo he recently snapped. You can see the groom leaning out so he can see around all the ‘cell phone photographers’ to get a glimpse of his bride. I don’t know what your opinion is, but to me, one of the most special parts of the ceremony is when the groom finally gets to see his soon-to-be-wife. And this guy nearly missed it.
Unplug. You’ll be glad you did.
