Dierks Bentley’s “Riser” Video is Deeply Emotional

Dierks Bentley decided on a different, specific direction for his latest music video, “Riser.” Instead of an over-produced, scripted piece, Bentley opted to use his highly-emotional performance of the single during the 50th ACM Awards in April.

Bentley told Entertainment Weekly, “It was really hard for me not to get emotional that night at the ACMs at Cowboys Stadium. I really wanted to keep the production simple and make the performance all about the arrangement and the lyrics. The reaction that night and now when we perform it on tour has already been so gratifying. People just relate to the message in that song…we’ve all lived it in one way or another.”

The video feels small and raw, though it was shot in front of close to 70,000 fans inside of a giant stadium. Bentley has called his title-track the cornerstone of his album.

Bentley is currently out on his Sounds of Summer Tour.
